ComfortWall is manufactured from granulated rockwool, a naturally occurring volcanic rock. These rocks are formed from the solidification of molten magma or lava. The rocks are then crushed into small pieces and heated to very high temperatures in a furnace. The molten rocks are heated and then spun into fibers using a process similar to that used to make cotton candy. The fibers are then collected on a conveyor belt and compressed into thick mats. The stone wool is then milled to produce a specific purpose granulate for "pumping" into wall cavities.
Being made from naturally replenshing renewable volcanic rock, ComfortWall contains no fibreglass, asbestos, odours, dyes or toxins. It is Landfill friendly, containing no polystyrenes or plastics. There is no risk of air borne dust contaminated from fire retardant chemical residue as has been found with foam insulations.
